Top 10 Things That Happened Today
Devil's Tower
There was much hiking and many a photo taken. In a heated discussion, Bridget was officially voted off the team. Apparently since she takes up lots of space, cannot drive, and has really no other talents for gifts, getting rid of her would free up space. The tribe has spoken. *Survivor music and torch extinguishing*
Sheridan, Wyoming
Great things happened in the Wally World parking lot. Dad reconnected with a high school buddy and they chatted it up for quite a while. Can we just talk about how these guys who haven't seen each other in years picked up right were they left off and managed to socialize for an hour? That's impressive.
Big Horn National Forest
Why do people even go back home after they've seen the West? Seriously? We drove through one of the most beautiful pieces of land I've seen in my entire life. These mountains, trees, rivers, and rocks give a new definition to "breathtaking." I won't bother trying to describe it, because words and pictures really won't do it justice.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Alex, Susanna, and I are at least halfway through the first season of this show, and after that we still have to watch the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Ties, The Facts of Life, Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, and Saved by the Bell!
Cody, Wyoming
We made it to Cody alive, albeit, very very grumpy.
Pat O'Hara Brewery
Wyoming too has that pesky law about minors in bar areas, however we were allowed to sit on the picnic tables. Honestly I'm not sure why people were even inside. The weather was gorgeous: warm, not humid, with a breeze. Pat O'Hara's is a local hot spot. It's a converted auto parts store, and we were welcomed with open arms. Alex charmed the waitress and Dad made friends in that inhumanely fast way he does. I want to write the place a review, because the service was fantastic; everyone was super friendly and talkative. The food was amazing too. I had the best Philly Cheesesteak outside of Philly. Overall, I would highly recommend this place the next time you're in Cody, Wyoming.
Drag Race and an Orange Jeep
Imagine ambling your way down main street and suddenly two trucks fly past you before you can even register their color! Apparently drag races are a thing here! Also, at Pat O'Hara's, a fantastic topless orange Jeep pulled in to the parking space right behind our table. When I wrangle enough money (and a driver's license) together, I am going to buy myself a Jeep in pink camouflage.
Public Buffalo Art
Colorful bison are strewn throughout the entire town of Cody. All of them are unique, and I'm pretty sure they're hand painted in one of the cutesy little shops we passed on the way to the restaurant. If it were my job, I'd hoard a bunch of buffalo inside my studio, and then sneak out one night and hide them all over the city. The next day, people would wake up and scratch their heads thinking was that thing there before or am I just ignorant? I would sit and laugh at them until I cried or peed my pants, whichever came first. And then I'd be ashamed of myself for being so easily entertained.
Best Western Sunset Inn
Finally, a night spent in a hotel room! A hotel room with wifi!
"Heated" Pools and a Hot Tub
We all unwound and swam, but those pools were definitely not of the heated genre. Thankfully there was a hot tub, which Mom, the Eternal Icebox, took advantage of.
Honorable Mention (Not Really)
We found a tick on Susanna. Mom plucked that bad boy off pretty quick. We're almost positive the head came out as well. Susanna took it pretty well, but now the rest of us are paranoid.
